What Does United Way Do





Family Wize

Family WizeMore than 9,000 free FamilyWize prescription drug discount cards are now available to help people with no prescription coverage lower the cost of their medicine. People with health insurance can also use the cards to lower the cost of prescription medicine not covered by their medical insurance.

People with Internet access can print a card by visiting the website at www.FamilyWize.com as well as look up drug prices and the list of participating pharmacies. Discount cards also can be obtained from United Way partner agencies, and many of the participating local pharmacies.

FamilyWize Program Highlights

  • More than 440 Participating United Way agencies, in all 50 states and Puerto Rico
  • 440+ participating United Way Agencies (34 in Ohio)
  • Savings to date: $2 million towards program goal of $100 million
  • Average savings: 38%; $19.89 per prescription
  • Savings 8 times out of 10 over pharmacy price
  • Number of discount cards donated: two million to date
  • No cost to community organizations or people getting the cards
  • For anyone with no other prescription drug coverage or card
  • For any medicine not covered by insurance, including Medicaid and Medicare
  • Valid for all family members living in the household
  • No eligibility, age requirements, waiting periods, enrollment or paperwork
  • No personal information collected or shared
  • Cards are printed in English and Spanish; also available in Portuguese
  • Cards can also be printed directly from the website
  • Participating pharmacies: 95% of all U.S. pharmacies (over 56,000)
  • Accepted at all chain pharmacies and most independents
  • Zip code locator for participating pharmacies is on the website
  • Discounted drug prices can be looked up online
  • Cannot be used in conjunction with any other prescription card
