Did you know...just one piece of equipment could result in so many client successes?
The Lucy Idol Center purchased a lift for client and staff use that has introduced a wide range of success stories and has proven to be the Center's most valued equipment. Lifting and transferring clients requires great responsibility and the new battery run lift not only provides safety and comfort but, it provides secure lifting for clients and reduces the chance of back injury to staff.
Over half of the Lucy Idol Center clients are non ambulatory and require assistance with dressing, toileting, positioning, and transfer from the floor to a chair, from chair to chair, or from their wheelchair to the changing table. The lift comes equipped with a comprehensive range of lifting accessories that make heavy lifts easy, horizontal lifts in balance, and most importantly, with the proper accessories it becomes a safe and secure gait trainer and walker.
When the lift is transformed into a walker, individuals who can not bear weight on their own can be positioned in the walker in special lift pants or a vest so that their feet are on the floor. The lift is equipped with arm rests and is an invaluable aid to walking, training, and rehabilitation for those who may not otherwise ever be on their feet independently.
Everyone here at the Lucy Idol Center has found much excitement in the many uses and opportunities that different individuals have experienced while using the new lift and it has really enhanced the physical therapy program.

A young man named Steven walked into the United Way offices and stated that he wanted to make a donation to United Way. He then took out his starter checks he received from the bank where he just opened his first checking account, and proceeded to write out his first check to United Way. Steven wanted his first disbursed check to monetarily support his community. What a thoughtful young man! Thanks Steven!
