A Shining Star...

Catholic Charities would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Adopt-a-family project. With Poly One's generosity we raised $377 in cash donations. Among the very generous items donated were a sewing machine, a recliner, a DVD player, non-perishable foods, personal care items, clothing for Danny and Cathy, bedding, toys, etc. With the money, we were able to purchase everything on Cathy's list plus so much more. We purchased a new hat and snow gloves for Danny, sweat outfits and clothing for both Danny and Cathy, kid movies on DVD, and toys that make sounds. We were also able to purchase a $50 gas card and $100 Super K-Mart gift card.

On October 18th we made our first delivery and finished on November 11th with the recliner. Cathy was overwhelmed and did not expect all that she received and started crying. We explained that there were many people at PolyOne who donated because they wanted to help.

The new toys and recliner couldn't have come at a better time for Danny. Due to his cerebral palsy, he was in full length casts on both legs to stretch his leg muscles. Cathy said the recliner was certainly needed to keep Danny propped up. When we handed Danny his play guitar, he squealed with delight and even sang us a song in the microphone that was attached.

Cathy wanted us to thank everyone at PolyOne for their unbelievable generosity. So, on behalf of Cathy and Danny and the four of us, Judi, Judy, Jeff and Richard who worked on this project, THANK YOU so much PolyOne for adopting the family with us and making life a little easier for one family in our community!

All the little bottles of shampoos and lotions from hotels were given to the Catholic Charities Family Center of Lorain where they will be handed out to the homeless.

Sideline:
A young man named Steven walked into the United Way offices and stated that he wanted to make a donation to United Way. He then took out his starter checks he received from the bank where he just opened his first checking account, and proceeded to write out his first check to United Way. Steven wanted his first disbursed check to monetarily support his community. What a thoughtful young man! Thanks Steven!
