Nominations for 4th Annual "Caring Heart Award" being accepted

United Way of Greater Lorain County announces that they are accepting nominations for the 4th annual "Caring Heart Award". This prestigious award honors a member of the community who has performed exceptional volunteer service for the United Way of Greater Lorain County. This person characterizes the mission of United Way of Greater Lorain County which is caring for those in need.

The recipient of this year’s "Caring Heart Award" will be announced and honored at United Way of Greater Lorain County’s Campaign Celebration, to be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at the Holiday Inn in Elyria.

Individuals, companies, businesses or organizations are encouraged to nominate a co-worker or individual volunteer for the "Caring Heart Award" who has given of their time and talents to the United Way of Greater Lorain County. Nomination information should demonstrate a candidate’s service to the community through his or her efforts of working with the United Way. The individual must have volunteered for the United Way during 2005. According to Jerry Skully, United Way’s Executive Director, "the Caring Heart Award is our way of acknowledging the tremendous and irreplaceable role that volunteers play in bettering both the lives of the less fortunate and the quality of life in the Lorain County Community."

Those interested in nominating an outstanding volunteer for the "Caring Heart Award" may submit a nomination on-line or download a hard copy of the application form in pdf format and mail to:

A selection committee (a panel of involved citizens) will select the winner.
