Spotlight on our volunteers - Read why they volunteer for United Way

Without the support of business professionals within the community that give of their time and energy to the United Way, we would not be able to, year after year; achieve such success. Here we wish to spotlight such individuals that offer so much to the United Way of Greater Lorain County:

Who: Bill Comerford

Occupation: President, Hovey Kaiser Insurance Associates, Inc.

Volunteer capacity: Volunteer on United Way's Campaign Cabinet

Why does Bill volunteer for United Way:

"Volunteering for United Way allows oneself to be involved in the world outside the confines of our day-to-day routine." Bill Comerford

Who: Kathy Mahnic

Occupation: Human Resource Manager

Volunteer capacity: Employee Campaign Manager and Day of Caring Volunteer

Why does Kathy volunteer for United Way:

"As a volunteer and campaign manager, I've been extremely proud of the generosity, high energy and creativity our employees demonstrate each year. I've also met and been able to work with so many nice members of our community who really care about their neighbors. So much more can be accomplished when efforts and funds are focused on a common goal." Kathy Mahnic

Who: Eddie Williams

Occupation: Community Relations Manager

Volunteer capacity: Employee Campaign Manager and Day of Caring Volunteer

Why does Eddie volunteer for United Way:

"Hunger, domestic violence, substance abuse, troubled teens and youth, dysfunctional families and poor health are just a few of the issues facing Lorain County. I realize that myself alone can not solve any of them. However, with the help of community volunteers, generous donors and United Way, a DIFFERENCE CAN BE MADE. Nordson Corporation's employee volunteer program, Time-n-Talent (T-n-T), involves over 250 employees contributing almost 2,000 hours of volunteer time and impacting 27 agencies. It is this type of effort and energy that can MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I am proud to be a United Way volunteer and part of Nordson's T-n-T program. It is just a small way that I can give back to a community that has been very good to me." Eddie Williams
