Spotlight on our Volunteers
Without the support of business professionals within the community that give of their time and energy to the United Way, we would not be able to, year after year; achieve such success. Here we wish to spotlight such individuals that offer so much to the United Way of Greater Lorain County:
Who: Sarah Colvario
Company: Northern Savings
Volunteer Capacity: Fund Distribution
Why does Sarah volunteer with the United Way?
"I am really enjoying being a volunteer for the United Way.
The process of learning how money is dispersed to organizations within Lorain County makes me realize how important the United Way's job is to everyone.
I also really like learning about organizations and agencies that help people- it makes me feel more connected to the community."
- Sarah Colvario
Who: Joel Ruth
Company: May Operations Center
Volunteer Capacity: Day of Caring
Why does Joel volunteer with the United Way?
"(Volunteering) is an opportunity to work with my co-workers on something different and help groups that, if it weren't for us, would be short handed and not able to accomplish some of the projects we worked on.
- Joel Ruth
Who: Paul Contoveros & PolyOne Day of Caring Volunteers
Company: PolyOne
Volunteer Capacity: Day of Caring
Why do Paul & PolyOne volunteer with the United Way?
"The PolyOne Corporation (and the companies that merged together to form PolyOne - The Geon Company and M.A. Hanna) have been dedicated to the Day of Caring for many years.
We typically will pick up to five projects in which to participate.
It is a testimony to the value of the programs that many people keep volunteers year after year, although new people sign up as well during each campaign.
The main reason given is that our volunteers feel they are truly helping the agencies in our community.
Whether it be paining, fixing, building, interacting with children or senior citizens, serving or cleaning, our volunteers see first-hand what the United Way agencies are doing for the residents of the county.
The personal involvement we have had has allowed s to see the commitment and love given by the people that work at the United Way agencies."
