The Business of Caring - Read why North Coast Correctional Treatment Facility Supports United Way

North Coast Correctional Treatment Facility, located in Grafton, Ohio believes in being a good neighbor in Lorain County. "Community involvement is very important", says Jacqueline Thomas, warden of the prison. "NCCTF establishes solid, long-term relationships with communities through employment, community service projects and local purchases."

North Coast Correctional Treatment Facility is committed to a philosophy that provides inmates with the education and employment skills they require for successful reentry into society. Being a strong community supporter by being involved in our local United Way and its partner agencies and programs shows offenders that we believe in supporting the community, and by leading by example, true happiness can be found by helping others.

Although fairly new to United Way, NCCTF began supporting United Way in 2004 by sorting food at Second Harvest Food Bank, contributing through payroll deductions, and by a one-time contribution. In 2005, North Coast kicked off its campaign season on September 9th by participating in United Way's "Day of Caring", where 12 employees met at the Girl Scouts' Camp Timberlane and assisted other agencies cleaning, painting, and sprucing up the camp. Just recently, North Coast employees donated over 84 pounds of food for the community food pantry drive, one of several food drives scheduled for 2005-2006. NCCTF will also be revisiting Second Harvest Food Bank in the coming months, to assist in sorting food before the holiday season.

The North Coast Correctional Treatment Facility, a privately-run institution managed by Management and Training Corporation, is an adult male, 612 bed facility located east of Grafton, Ohio on State Route 83 that houses minimum-security level inmates for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. Construction for the facility started in the fall of 1999 and NCCTF received its first minimum-security inmates on February 29th, 2000.
