Coming Soon: Youth Pages

The Lorain County Youth Pages, a backpack-sized directory of resources for youth, will soon be distributed to youth in grades 9-12. Copies will also be available at area libraries, Boys and Girls Clubs and various local fairs and events.

The guide is intended to provide youth with a comprehensive and balanced list of local resources to assist youth with everything from where to turn for help to where to go for fun and recreation.

This first-time local effort is a spin-off from the Youth Survey, coordinated by Communities That Care. Results from the 2006 Lorain County Youth Survey show nearly half of all 10,523 youth surveyed report a lifetime use of alcohol. Problems of all sorts – drinking, smoking, truancy, violence – tend to spike among middle school youth. The survey that is completed every three years tracks trends of usage of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, along with youth’s thoughts on their communities, friends, families and schools.
