Quotes from our Volunteers

Without the support of business professionals within the community that give of their time and energy to the United Way, we would not be able to, year after year; achieve such success. Here we wish to spotlight such individuals that offer so much to the United Way of Greater Lorain County:

Who: Maureen Hromada

Company: Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, LLC

Volunteer Capacity: Day of Caring

Why does Maureen volunteer with the United Way?

“Volunteering for the Day of Caring is a good way to lend a hand to those who could use it. Far too often we take things for granted and the Day of Caring puts things into perspective for me.” Maureen Hromada

Who: Pat Dobson

Company: Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, LLC

Volunteer Capacity: Day of Caring

Why does Pat volunteer with the United Way?

“I volunteer because it is exciting and personally satisfying to be part of some thing that makes a difference like Untied Way. I am so grateful to be an American and I am happy to express my gratitude by helping others.” Pat Dobson

Who: Saunjula Staton

Company: Lorain County Urban League

Volunteer Capacity: Fund Distribution

Why does Saunjula volunteer with the United Way?

“Personally, I volunteer because I believe that it is very important for people in need to have a voice within the community. I feel that it is my duty to be an information highway and referral service for people needing help. If it weren’t for volunteers, many of these programs would not have the capacity to exist. Therefore, we all need to find some time to help others.” Saunjula Staton

Who: John Roberts

Company: Invacare

Volunteer Capacity: Day of Caring

Why does John volunteer with the United Way?

“I got involved with the Untied Way when I was informed of a Day of Caring event that sounded like a great service to the community. I helped out that year and saw the gratitude of the people that were on the receiving end of the services provided. The expressions on their faces were reward enough to keep me coming back. I have been a volunteer ever since.” John Roberts

Who: Rich Wagner

Company: May Company Department Store

Volunteer Capacity: Day of Caring

Why does Rich volunteer with the United Way?

“After touring some of the Untied Way agencies and seeing how these agencies positively affect the lives of so many people, I could not help but to get involved. It made me realize how much of a need there is for these UW agencies and for volunteers. If we can make one person’s life better, or put a smile on a child’s face, it is worth the effort.” Rich Wagner
