United Way of Greater Lorain County has announced that despite having raised fewer funds this year than it raised in the prior year, their Board of Directors has approved the same amount of funds to go to program services as in the prior year. $1,605,887 will be distributed to fund 51, 501 (c)3 health & human service programs at 27 Lorain County agencies, and $21,396 for a high impact community collaborative. The funding cycle begins July 1, 2009 and runs to June 30, 2010. This Board decision reflects United Way’s commitment to put people’s needs and the community’s quality of life issues first in all our deliberations. United Way support endeavors to create opportunities by bringing lasting, positive change to our region and by focusing on quality of life building blocks. Consequently, we will invest in those programs which align with our aspirations and assist in achieving those outcomes.” Referencing the strategies and specific types of assistance for each of United Way’s focus areas he said:
In 2009-2010 United Way will also support its 2-1-1 Information & Referral program with $71,550. United Way will also distribute $409,000 in donor designations to agencies.
